Louisiana passes Ordinance of Secession: yeas 113, neas 17. Louisiana secedes from the Union. The Louisiana Convention refuses to submit the Ordinance to the people by a vote of 84 to 45.

Alabama Commissioners appointed to negotiate with the U. S. government relative to the U. S. forts, arsenals, etc., within the State.
