North Carolina Senate Bill arming the State passes the North Carolina House: yeas 73, neas 26.

Virginia Legislature passes anti-coercion resolution.

U. S. Secretary of the Interior Jacob Thompson resigns because "additional troops, he had heard, have been ordered to Charleston" in the Star of the West.
